When you're on a business trip, you always want to get the most out of your carry-on bag and save as much space as possible. Fitting in all your work-related gadgets plus your personal belongings can be tough, though. That's why it's extremely helpful when gadgets come in miniature sizes. Recently The New York Times offered suggestions for some that will keep you productive without loading you down.

  1. Brookstone's Pocket Projector Pro--This $450 projector is about the size of a sandwich and is one of Brookstone's strongest sellers, according to the Times. It lets you project presentations, movies, or videos from your laptop or mobile device onto a screen of up to 100 inches. The Pocket Projector Pro has two built-in speakers and can run for up to two hours on a charge.
  2. Brookstone's 3-to-1 USB cable--This gadget has a USB connector on one end and Lightning, 30-pin, and Micro USB connectors on the other. It'll cost you $35, but it can come in handy when you have multiple brands of power-hungry devices.
  3. The Mophie Space Pack--Starting at $150, this iPhone 5 and 5S case will double the life of your phone and provide up to 64GB of extra media storage. 
  4. LaCie Fuel--This compact device lets you store more than 500 movies or thousands of photos, songs, and documents. (One terabyte of wireless storage costs $180; 2 terabytes will run you $250.) Up to five devices can access the content simultaneously, and the battery lasts up to 10 hours. It also can connect to Wi-Fi hotspots and share that connection with up to four wireless devices.
  5. Satechi Smart Travel Router & Adapter--Useful for international travel, this $45 device has outlet types usable in the U.S., Asia, and Europe. It also has a USB charging port, and even works as a Wi-Fi hotspot.
  6. Sharper Image's charging tower--This $35 device has USB ports that let you charge up to four devices simultaneously. It's about the size of a remote control and can plug into the wall directly to recharge.
  7. Brookstone backup battery--While there are definitely smaller options on the market, this $70 USB backup battery is extremely powerful and can charge two devices at once. The battery also plugs directly into an outlet without need for an adapter or cable.
  8. Tranquil Moments speaker--This $130 Bluetooth speaker doubles as a sleep-sound machine for those sensitive sleepers who may not always get the best rest in hotels. You can chose from thunderstorm, summer night, and celestial sounds.
  9. Jawbone's Mini Jambox--If you're not in need of a sound machine, this $130 Bluetooth speaker is easy to stow and produces great audio quality.
  10. Bang & Olufsen's BeoPlay A2--This portable Bluetooth speaker for audiophiles is a little pricier at $400, but it weighs less than 2.5 pounds and has a leather strap so you can hang it from a doorknob or hook in your hotel room.
  11. Sharper Image headphones--These $120 Bluetooth headphones are wireless and lightweight, and fold up easily for storage on the go.
